CFD simulations of steam cracking furnaces using detailed combustion mechanisms

چکیده
A three-dimensional mathematical model has been developed for the simulation of flow, temperature and concentration fields in the radiation section of industrial scale steam cracking units. The model takes into account turbulence–chemistry interactions through the Eddy Dissipation Concept (EDC) model and makes use of Detailed Reaction Kinetics (DRK), which allows the detailed investigation of the flame structure. Furthermore, simulation results obtained with the EDC-DRK model are compared with simulation results obtained with a simplified model c f fl m w v s i u ©

SHAHAB-A PC-Based Software for Simulation of Steam Cracking Furnaces (Ethane and Naphtha)
SHAHAB is a PC- based simulator developed by Olefin Research Group (ORG), with the simultaneous simulation of the reactor, the firebox, the convection section and the transfer line exchanger in steam Cracking units. The reaction mechanism of thermal cracking of hydrocarbons is generally accepted as free-radical chain reactions. Using a rigorous kinetic model, a complete reaction network for rep...

Asset Performance Diagnostics for Improving Operation Efficiency of Ethylene Cracking Furnaces
This paper describes a case study of improving the asset performance of ethylene cracking furnaces through energy saving by Yokogawa’s Asset Performance Diagnostics service, one of the services of Plant Asset Effectiveness Optimization Services, InsightSuiteAE. During regular maintenance of ethylene cracking furnaces, steam and air are supplied to tubes for decoking to burn and remove coke whic...
متن کاملEvaluation of high-emissivity coatings in steam cracking furnaces using a non-grey gas radiation model
The efficiency of the application of high-emissivity coatings on the furnace walls in steam cracking technology can only be evaluated on the asis of a description of radiative heat transfer distinguishing between the frequency bands. To this end, a non-grey gas radiation model based on he exponential wide band model (EWBM) has been developed and applied in the context of three-dimensional CFD s...
متن کاملCFD Modeling Study of High Temperature and Low Oxygen Content Exhaust Gases Combustion Furnaces
This paper reports a CFD modeling study on the possibility of using high temperature and low oxygen content exhaust gases as oxidant for combustion in an industrial furnace by a written computer program. Under these conditions, the predicted results for the flow and heat transfer properties are compared with those under the several cases of conventional and highly preheated...
